LCARS SCREEN ANIMATION

The Library Computer Access and Retrieval System (LCARS) Flash animations used in these pages is a resource from the original layouts used in the Star Trek:
The Next Generation,
Deep Space Nine,
Voyager.
The Motion Pictures - Star Trek: Generations, First Contact, Insurrection and Nemesis.

The LCARS originals were created by Michael Okuda and his team. No harm or infringement is intended by me in using their layout.  A few of the M.S.D.'s have been based from the diagrams in Star Trek The Magazine publication.

The following LCARS animations which have been made by me, all started in 1999, now updated using Flash CS4.

Master Situation Display

The Master Situation Display or acronym term M.S.D. as it is better known in Trek technobabble circles appears in Federation starships. The M.S.D. is a large, wall-mounted computer display either in engineering and on the bridge. These displays featured a large cutaway diagram of the vessel, and was used to provide a detailed monitoring overview of the ship's status. For Example, The USS Enterprise-D had its M.S.D. in engineering, while starships such as USS Voyager, USS Defiant, and USS Enterprise-E all featured their displays on the bridge.  M.S.D.'s for Constitution-class starships could be loaded up from the computer. The first M.S.D. was created for the sets of the Enterprise-D. According to the Star Trek Encyclopaedia, it included a number of in-jokes, including "the official USS Enterprise duck, the ship's mouse, a Porsche, a DC-3 airplane, the Nomad space probe, and the hamster on a treadmill that was alleged to be the true source of power for the ship's warp engines." See if you can find them below. To date the only Star Trek series starships that hasn't had a large M.S.D. of some sort is the Enterprise NX-01.

Master Systems Display.

Do not get confused with the Master Systems Display also known as a M.S.D.  The Master System Display again is a graphical control console used by Starfleet personnel in main engineering of such vessels as the Galaxy Class starships. M.S.D. of this type were built from the video display table for Starfleet Command in Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home, and for obvious reasons, production personnel nicknamed them the 'Pooltable'.

Questions related to my Flash Animations

Can I have permission to use your LCARS Flash for my own Star Trek site?
In short, no. When I started out making my site, it took me a long time to master Flash animations and each one takes a long time to compile. All other animated gifs and movies can be downloaded.
Although I have no real way to prevent you from using my Flash.swf files from my site.
However, if you want your site to have a look of originality, then I recommend you learn how to build them.
Can you send me the source Flash files you used?
No, I cannot, as these are an in-house resource and I will not and cannot afford to share them.
