Decontamination Chamber
This is an enclosed sealed compartment for the elimination of harmful substances and organisms from the body.
Its first used on Enterprise came when Commander Charles Tucker and Sub commander T'Pol were exposed to protocystian spores. (ENT: "Broken Bow")
Enterprise has a Decontamination (or for short 'decon') chamber for use upon return to the ship from a planet.
The chamber is lit with ultraviolet light and features small compartments for the transfer of decon-gel. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
Decon-Gel is a phosphorescent gelatine that when applied to the skin neutralizes any pathogens.
A stay in the decon chamber appears to be a pleasurable experience, something like being in a sauna.
Although this is featured Enterprise Technology, 'Bio-Filters' had yet to be invented.
